“The complexities in the universe”
This is a philosopical as well as a scientific
question that has been long sought for an answer. For hundreds of years,
philosophers, scientists and explorers are trying to find an answer to this
question. The question is simple, but answer is not. No one has been able to
figure out the answer yet and we are not even sure if answer exists.
This writing is not a scientific paper hence
it is not based on scientific facts and data. This writing solely comes from my
inner conscience and I believe, I am not the only one to have such feelings. I
consider myself as a explorer. Hence, let’s explore this topic.
I am pretty sure that there are hundreds and
thousands of people who have come across simple questions such as, how did the
universe began ? Where did we come from ? What are the reasons behind we being
here ? Why is the universe so complex ? These simple looking questions have
occupied minds of most of the intellectual men on earth for hundreds of years.
But the answer is still eluding.
Well, in this paper, I would just like to
discuss the last question. That is why the universe is so complex ? But first,
we need to understand complexity. For centuries, men has been interested in
understanding nature. The more they tried to understand it, more complex it appeared.
The more answers they found, many many more questions were born. The order of
the complexity increased as man’s understanding changed from geocentric to
heliocentric, a single galaxy to multiple galaxy and now they are even
predicting a multiverse. Not only in the macroscale, the complexity increased
even more in microscale. From atoms being the smallest entity to atoms being
composed of electrons, protons and neutrons. And now even these subatomic
particles are made up of hundreds of particles. Not only that, the new complex
ideas whose proponents says its elegant and beautiful tries to answer all the
questions supposing that everything is made up of tiny vibrating strings, so
small that we don’t have advanced technology to see them. They propose that
these strings vibrating at different modes gives rise to different structures
as we see in macroscale. Complexity even outcasted simple logic. The seemingly
most prominent field of present science called ‘quantum mechanics’ eludes all
logics that one can apply. The bizarre consequences such as humans influence on
their nature are ridicule thing that can happen in science. Classical
scientific laws are not influenced by human’s observation and so forth but
quantum mechanics are. The more humans tried to understand nature, the more
complex nature appeared.
So,
the question arises. What is the root of all these complexities ? Is it the
human’s misunderstanding of the nature or the nature itself is complex. Humans
have assumed that nature is getting complex so if we apply a simple logic and
trace time back then there must be a time when everything was simple.
Understanding simplicity first can prove a cornerstone in understanding the
origin and development of complexity. And again with simple logic, if nature
was simple then there must have been some intriguing factor that increased the
complexity. So, what can be that factor ? Why nature chose to be complex when
simplicity could have done the job. Or, is it our misunderstanding that nature
is getting complex. Maybe, in nature’s point of view in counterpart to ours, it
might be simplifying rather than developing complexity ?
